Which, unfortunately, is them.

Then Dot asks what happens if the town ever stops listening, and Gran remembers 1974.
- 5Nine Seconds, ObservedChapter nine of the manual turns out to be a calendar of one event — every eleventh year, the station holds nine seconds of silence in memory of the night it was left alone. Dot schedules a do-over, the whole town keeps the quiet on purpose this time, and the frequency is finally sat with instead of fixed. The manual signs itself and pencils everyone in for tomorrow.
